Since February, employees in Malta have been making a small weekly donation during ‘Dress Down Friday’. The money was donated at the end of September to the Puttinu Cares Foundation during a Football (soccer in the U.S.) Marathon which was held over three days in September. A group of Crane employees formed two teams and took part in this marathon event as well.
The teams included Aaron Ellul, Jeffrey Grixti, Jesmond Micallef, Felix Galea, Matthias Saliba, Arthur Hili, Alessandro Aquilina, Anthony Attard, Shawn Fenech and Clifford Mallia and they all performed quite well. All in good fun, John Scott, Operations Director commented to HR that there was “little risk of losing any of these skilled colleagues to professional football contracts!”
The Puttinu Foundation is a Cancer Support Group that was set up in 2002 and began from an idea and desire to offer a holistic approach of care for families with children suffering from cancer. The Puttinu Cares Foundation employs the principle of solidarity relying on sponsors and donations from the public and entities.
The Puttinu Foundation raised over €2,000,000 at the event. A tremendous achievement.
